Bulls Roar – KSE 100 Crosses 93,000-mark!

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a remarkable surge reaching historic highs in the final trading session of the week. Major market indices rose sharply following the opening bell indicating a strong bullish sentiment. However, trading volumes surged compared to the previous session. As per analysts, investor’s confidence increased due to the improved economic indicators.

Global equity markets displayed mixed trends, while crude oil prices declined. WTI crude oil dropped by 1.19% to $71.50, and Brent crude fell by 0.94% to $74.92, (as of 4:48 PM PST, source: Investing.com).

The benchmark KSE-100 index recorded a weekly gain of 2.68%, accumulating 994.07 pts during the session and reaching a day’s high of 93,514.56—surpassing the 93,000 mark for the first time. It closed higher by 771.19 pts at 93,291.68. The KMI-30 index also saw significant growth adding 1,501.91 pts to close at 142,361.28, while the KSE All Share index rose by 530.35 pts ending the session at 59,401.09.

Total trading volume increased significantly, rising from 678.64 mn shares in the previous session to 762.82 mn shares. Leading the volume chart were The Bank of Punjab (BOP +2.89%), Worldcall Telecom Limited (WTL 3.25%), and Pak Elektron Limited (PAEL +6.17%), recording trades of 66.48 mn, 51.31 mn, and 44.16 mn shares, respectively.

Sectors that contributed positively to the KSE-100 index included Oil and Gas Exploration (+311.24 pts), Power Generation and Distribution (+132.93 pts) and Fertilizer (+106.58 pts). Company-wise, Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC +172.01 pts), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL +96.80 pts) and The Hub Power Company Limited (HUBC +89.63 pts) were the leading contributors in terms of points gained.

The Power Generation and Distribution sector gained 2.01% in its cumulative market capitalization. The Hub Power Company Limited (HUBC +2.56%), K-Electric Limited (KEL +0.83%), Pakgen Power Limited (PKGP +0.01%) and Kot Addu Power Company Limited (KAPCO +2.53%), all closed in positive territory.
